Top 10 Events This Week: June 10th-June 16th

This week's Top 10 Events list includes comedy, classes and live music. In addition, the ReDiscover Jazz Festival continues online through the 14th.

I also wanted to share some community news. First, the Burlington Farmers Market, Jericho Farmers’ Market, and Richmond Farmers Market are all going to be open for the 2020 summer season, with precautions in place due to COVID-19. Other markets in Chittenden County are closed for the 2020 season. Check out our updated list for Chittenden County here, with links to each site so you can review the precautions, and/or see how you can still purchase from your favorite local vendors.

Secondly, a couple of local activity favorites have recently announced that they are closing their doors. At the end of April, Wildflowers Studio announced that they are closing permanently. On Monday, the Wiggle Room announced that they too, are closing their doors. This is sad news for so many families who enjoyed crafting and playing in these spaces. If you can, take an opportunity this week to support a local business. Every little bit can make a difference for those who are struggling.

Take care everyone!

2) Good Clean Fun! Comedy Livestream for Kids

Where: Vermont Comedy Club (online event)

When: Wednesday, 1PM-1:45PM

I was finally able to join one of these livestream comedy shows, which is specifically geared to kids. It was so entertaining! My toddler was probably a little too young to fully appreciate all of the off-the-cuff, creative humor, but the older kids seemed to be really into it. This is a unique way to engage and entertain your kids if they have (or want to have) a funny bone.

4) Open Water Scuba Class

Where: Waterfront Diving Center, 214 Battery Street, Burlington

When: various dates/times

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we have no idea what tomorrow will bring. One way we can turn this year into a positive is to try new things—things you maybe wanted to do, but never got around to—like scuba diving! My husband has actually been begging me to do this for years… but you know, we did the whole baby thing and free time isn’t as abundant as it used to be. If you’re in good health, check this out. You can learn how to dive and become a certified scuba diver.
